Hi, I’m Hemant. I build web platforms that businesses can rely on.

I’m a senior software engineer in Dehradun, India, with 11+ years of building and running commercial websites: PHP and WordPress platforms, e-commerce stores, and modern React and Next.js frontends. I turn business requirements into software that is reliable to run and simple for teams to update.

The principle behind my work

My story

I started in 2014 as a frontend developer at Gudik Technologies in Dehradun, building features for mobile and desktop in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. While studying for my Master’s degree I worked as a freelance web developer for clients in the United States, building and maintaining WordPress sites end to end.

At Sudo Technologies I worked as a WordPress developer, turning designs into custom themes and plugins. From 2020 I was a Senior Software Engineer at A1 Brains Infotech, customising WordPress internals, building reusable code libraries and leading client projects from estimate to launch.

Since 2024 I’ve been a Senior Software Engineer at EZContacts, a US online eyewear retailer. I improve the storefront’s UI, build enhancements to existing features and resolve the issues assigned to me through Jira, from reproducing a bug to shipping the fix through review and QA, across the PHP e-commerce platform and the company’s React/Next.js product. Alongside that I build with Laravel, React, Next.js and Node.js, and I write the tutorials and tools on this site. I work in an AI-augmented way: AI coding agents and well-structured prompts help me prototype and ship faster, while every change still goes through my own review and testing.

How I work

The habits clients and teams can expect from me on every project.

Requirements first

Before estimating, I make sure I understand what the site has to do for the business: who updates it, what it connects to, and what counts as success. I'll challenge a brief when a simpler approach would serve it better.

Maintainable by default

Coding standards, readable code and content models editors understand. A site shouldn't depend on one developer for every change, including me.

Clear communication

Regular updates on a staging site, written specifications and honest notice when something affects the timeline. I work directly with clients, PMs, designers and QA, and can lead a project from estimate to launch.

Fast and findable

Performance, accessibility and technical SEO are part of the build, not an afterthought: clean markup, sensible caching and pages that pass Core Web Vitals.

Secure and careful

Sanitised input, escaped output, least-privilege access, backups before changes and staging before production. I respect NDAs and client confidentiality.

AI-assisted, human-reviewed

I use AI coding agents and careful prompting to prototype, build, test and document faster, then review and test every change myself. You get the speed without giving up quality or security.
